چکیده

Abstract The Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) – Hope Probe was developed to understand atmospheric circulation, dynamics, and processes through characterization of the atmosphere layers its interconnections enabled by a unique high-altitude (19,970 km periapse 42,650 apoapse) low inclination orbit that will offer an unprecedented local seasonal time coverage over most planet. EMM has three scientific objectives (A) characterize state Martian lower on global scales geographic, diurnal variability, (B) correlate rates thermal photochemical escape with conditions in collisional atmosphere, (C) spatial structure variability key constituents exosphere. data products include variety spectral imaging from instruments measuring at visible, ultraviolet, infrared wavelengths contemporaneously globally sampled both timescale. Here, we describe our strategies for addressing each objective these addition complementary science data, tools, physical models facilitate understanding. results also fill role providing diagnostics driving connections between upper atmospheres, influences escape.

The Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) Mission

The MAVEN spacecraft launched in November 2013, arrived at Mars in September 2014, and completed commissioning and began its one-Earth-year primary science mission in November 2014. The orbiter’s science objectives are to explore the interactions of the Sun and the solar wind with the Mars magnetosphere and upper atmosphere, to determine the structure of the upper atmosphere and ionosphere and ...

Mars Atmosphere Argon Density Measurement on Mer Mission

Introduction Using the Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) (see Fig.1) on board Spirit and Opportunity rovers on MER mission, we were able to measure the argon density variation in the martian atmosphere as a function of seasonal changes. Due mainly to the variation of the temperature as a function of season on martian poles, the air mass on Mars is constantly moving from North pole to Sou...

Mars: upper atmosphere.

The thermal structure of the upper atmosphere of Mars has been theoretically investigated. The exospheric temperature, for a pure CO(2) model atmosphere, lies between 400 degrees and 700 degrees K. The origin of the Martian atmosphere is discussed in the light of these results.

Mars atmosphere. Mars methane detection and variability at Gale crater.

Reports of plumes or patches of methane in the martian atmosphere that vary over monthly time scales have defied explanation to date. From in situ measurements made over a 20-month period by the tunable laser spectrometer of the Sample Analysis at Mars instrument suite on Curiosity at Gale crater, we report detection of background levels of atmospheric methane of mean value 0.69 ± 0.25 parts pe...

Extreme Model Atmosphere of Mars

Theoretical models of the atmosphere of Mars have been computed on the basis of our present factual knowledge with a minimum of assumptions. The mathematical method used has proven successful in the past in developing model atmospheres of Earth. Distinct from earlier approaches which have resulted in "best values" or "most likelyconditions," the resultant model atmosphere gives extreme upper an...
